"Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning , Satan shudders and says . . . 'Oh shit, she's awake.'"
When I read this quote, after getting a good laugh, I immediately thought of Mom. In a season when women have been in the limelight for their accomplishments, i.e.vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, senator Hillary Clinton etc., I realize that there is no other woman who has more strength for good than our mom. She doesn't get the press coverage that should be warranted for such an amazing woman, but I really do think she, like Moroni can, cause the very powers of Hell to shake and lose their power. Then I think of my sisters who do the same thing in tossing evil out of their paths: There's Kathy who has a more tender, giving heart than anyone I know. She has such empathy for people, even those she has never met, that she will help without ever being asked. She lifts burdens and is the perfect leader for her four younger sisters. It makes me feel very secure to know when she is in charge. Shannon, is wise beyond her years--like an ageless, beautiful soul who doesn't just say in her prayers, "Please bless so and so" But is actually the one making those blessings come to pass. She gives strength to everyone she meets, because it just radiates out from her. Nancy is strong in part because of her great faith and commitment. Once she decides to do something, whether its to run a marathon at an insanely fast pace, be an extra loving wife, homeschool her children, or give a lesson in Relief Society, she, like our mom, does it to the full extent. She doesn't vasilate back and forth, but, like our Prophet Pres. Kimball admonished, will just "do it". Lastly, there's little sister Meg. Her love for others has steel-like strength. "Of these things Charity is the greatest of all" could be her life moto. She loves unconditionally, her Joshy, her kids, her friends, her family and her sisters. She is the best at making us love each other. She is the glue that keeps us together when we might drift apart a little leading our own lives. Then I have sister-in-laws on both sides of my family who are also great women of strength. And now, WHAT! The next generation of these women are even stronger than us, my nieces, our daughters, and now their daughters as in little Elle and Amber's girls. Yes I think, if we all love each other and never let little grievances get in our way, or dumb offences, we, TOGETHER, can cause Satan to shudder and say, "Oh shit, they're awake."
The strongest woman I know: Mom
The rest of us who want to follow in Mom's shadow...

OK ofcourse I tears coming from this awesome post! I love you Ame... And why didnt't you mention yourself? I guess it would feel boastful to say how you are the peace maker out of us all, or how you have set the most amazing examples for everyone in our family to see that children in our family don't get to us just one way and how many have been able to reach out and adopt because you showed us how easy it is to be able to love know matter what the circumtances. Or maybe you didn't want to say how you make everyone so joyful! No matter what, you set the mood for us all with your happiness and and fun loving personality. Even if you are just letting us have a good laugh at your expense. I remember coming home from a run up Malans, Nancy and I drove your Trooper home after because you just still needed to run miles on top of the five or so we had just done. You started running and weaving back and forth in our lane so we couldn't drive around you. I don't know why exactly but I was just laughing and so so happy.
O which brings me to the other thing you probably felt like was bragging, your strength and physical abillity. You and Al were the first family members I knew to run a marathon and from there on just kept going. I love you so much sis...You really do bring so much joy to me! Love you, Meg
ok SO I was catching upi on the blog and Josh is whistling for me like I am a dog because he wants me to watch a movie with him... AS I will be back to read the posts before ALLies. Meg
Amy!! Thank you so much. i have never ever seen myself that way and if anything feel like I am a slacker who doesn't magnify or do anything very heartily. Reading you say something so nice made me feel . . . I don't know, like "maybe, if someone else could see a glimpse of that in me then maybe I could become more that person." Then it made me think how great a gift it is to treat and see others as what they could be and their potential is. I love you! Thanks!
thanks so much for such a kind and loving post. you are so insightful and the best at making people feel good. i love the quote about satan, especially thinking first of us sisters banded together as a strength, then add in mom at our head, our sisters-in-law, our nieces, and our daughters, and i just wanted to cry with happiness and say, 'heck yeah! watch out satan!'
